We are pleased to share the first edition of the ANALYST Project Newsletter, outlining the foundation and future direction of this ambitious Erasmus+ initiative.
In today’s fast-changing and multipolar world, decision-makers across sectors—from government to environmental services—face increasingly complex challenges. The ANALYST project responds to this need by developing innovative educational resources to train the next generation of intelligence analysts with the skills required for evidence-based strategic planning.
🧭 Project Priorities at a Glance:
- Enhance collaboration and knowledge-sharing among EU countries.
- Promote the importance of intelligence, security, and strategic foresight.
- Develop a clearly defined Intelligence Analyst Job Profile.
- Create tailored training programs aligned with labour market needs.
- Launch the European Intelligence Analyst Network.
🔍 Key Developments So Far:
Following the kick-off meeting in Rome, the consortium conducted a comprehensive transnational study across Belgium, Italy, Spain, and Greece, mapping out current trends in intelligence analysis and assessing existing training frameworks.
One of the project’s core deliverables—the Research & Intelligence Analyst Job Profile—is now under development. This framework will define the essential skills, knowledge, and aptitudes needed for professionals to operate effectively and with social impact.
The first steps have also been taken toward building the project’s core training structure. A collaborative workshop in Valencia enabled partners to evaluate early findings, refine the educational approach, and begin outlining the MOOC and training programme.
🔮 What’s Next:
- Development of the Intelligence Analyst MOOC
- Design and launch of a summer school and internship programme
- Planning for the International ANALYST Conference, aimed at connecting policy, academia, and practice across Europe
As the project unfolds, the ANALYST consortium remains committed to shaping the future of intelligence training and contributing to more informed, resilient societies.
